How to cook asparagus

Most asparagus recipes only call for the tips and center part. The root of the asparagus can be somewhat woody and fibrous. I recommend snapping off the bottom end of the asparagus with your hands. If you don’t want them to go to waste, you can save them in a plastic bag and when you have enough, you can blanche them for 5 minutes in boiling water and blend them with a good amount of butter, chicken stock, and salt to make a soup.
