I like to make this spicy hot chocolate from scratch. It has a rich chocolatey flavor without being too thick.
I like to make this a dessert cocktail sometimes, adding about 1 ounce of whiskey or rum to 5 ounces of the hot chocolate.
- 10 ounces milk
- 1 oz. chocolate chips
- 1 stick cinnamon
- dash nutmeg
- splash vanilla extract
- dash cayenne pepper
- Heat the milk over medium-low heat until it comes to a simmer. Lower to low heat.
- Whisk in the cayenne, cinnamon stick, and nutmeg. You can also optionally add a pinch of salt at this point.
- Add the chocolate chips and simmer at low heat for 5 minutes
- Finish with a splash of vanilla extract and serve immediately.
