French Toast

A slice of bread is soaked in egg and then fried. You can either have a thick slice of bread, or a stack of thin slices of bread which will have more of the texture of pancakes.

    1. Slice the bread into 1 inch thick slices.
    2. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees, and place the bread in the oven for 10 minutes to toast.
    3. Whisk the egg, sugar, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
    4. Gently blend in the milk
    5. Heat 10 grams of butter in a cast iron skillet over medium heat.
    6. Soak each piece of bread in the custard for 30 seconds, turning half way through until soaked through.
    7. Add each slice of bread to the heated skillet, and cook for 3 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
    8. Flip the slices of bread and continue to cook for another 2 minutes until it is golden brown.
    9. Slice on the diagonal and serve immediately with powdered sugar and maple syrup.
